DISCOVERY FLIGHT
Beyond Aviation's Discovery Flight is an introductory flying session in which you’re paired with a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) and allowed to pilot an aircraft under their supervision.

WHAT IS A DISCOVERY FLIGHT?
You will be in the left seat, also known as the pilot-in-command seat, throughout the flight. When you engage the throttle for the first time in one of our planes, your heart will start to beat faster, your adrenaline will surge, and your senses will become activated as you part from the ground.
There is truly no more incredible feeling as you freely ascend into the clear blue sky – it’s something you won’t forget. They make great gifts for birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, date nights, and more.
The Discovery Flight consists of one hour of uninterrupted airtime and 30 minutes of ground instruction time with a highly knowledgeable and personable flight instructor.
It’s their duty to guide you through a series of pre-flight activities to help you understand some basic flying principles, including:
Preparing the aircraft so you can gain a basic understanding of what pilots check for before flight.
Checking flight controls, including the ailerons, flaps, elevator and rudder to understand basic flight systems.
Showing you the systems as well as monitoring lights, fuel level, engine oil and other essential functions, to understand how safe flight is achieved.
Analyzing the exterior of the plane to uncover any signs of damage to its structure.
Following the 30 minute ground instruction portion, it’s time to take off on your hour-long flying session! From there on out, your flight instructor’s job is to ensure that you have a fun, safe, and memorable piloting experience.
WHAT WILL MY DISCOVERY FLIGHT ENTAIL?
Who is eligible to book a Discovery Flight Certificate?
Anyone who is interested in experiencing a once-in-a-lifetime adventure in the skies is eligible to book a Discovery Flight Certificate. Participants or their guardians must be legally able to sign a non-waiver flight release, be medically fit to travel, and must also meet any applicable FAA Safety Regulations. If an individual does not meet these requirements, they may be ineligible for flight.
What type of aircraft are available for a Discovery Flight Certificate?
Depending on availability that day, your flight will either be in one of our Cessna 172’s or Piper Archer aircraft.
Are there any restrictions, such as weather conditions, that I should be aware of prior to scheduling a flight?
Yes, we will advise you the day before your flight if weather will require us to reschedule. Additionally, it is also important to consider other weather conditions such as high winds, that may preclude your flight for that day.
